The man on the left (as your looking at the picture), is my wonderful husband, Mark. He really is my oak tree. He provides shade in the storms, whether it is a storm we are facing, or I am facing. Whether it’s a storm he is facing, or one that our kids are facing. He stands tall, and strong…and when the winds blow he does not bend. He may lose a few leaves now and then, but like the oak tree his leaves change color and fall, then sprout anew and wonderous each spring. He stands tall and lush, providing ample shade, and in the winter, you can observe the strength of his branches.
I’m not trying to be silly — I really do see these things in him. I am so thankful that God has placed this mighty oak tree (my husband) in my life. We have been married for 16 adventureous years. Some of those adventures have been amazing and awesome, yet others have tested our strength, our resolve, and our commitment to “trust in the Lord with all our hearts”. (Prov 3:5-6)
I truly believe that God knew exactly what he was doing when he placed the two of us together…and I have no doubt that our adventures have really only just begun.
