Hum, I admit, I am struggling with this today. It would be very easy for me to come in with the obvious: I am thankful for ALL my heavenly Father has done for me, my husband and my kids, the roof over our heads, the clothes on our backs and the food in our bellies…and the cars in our driveway…but…my goal in Thankful Thursdays is to not trivialize thankfulness.
If you’ve read the most recent posts you know that my family has been dealing with a bit of a nightmare in the removal of the retaining wall. Ah, and let me also add, I now have a sinus infection too. So, with those things at the forefront of my mind, I really am/did have to search, but I believe very much that we are to “…praise the Lord according to His righteousness, and … sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.” ~ Ps 7:17
I also agree with James 1:2-4, “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”
So what am I thankful for today:
1) I’m thankful that God allowed us to have the funds available in our savings to pay for the wall in full instead of accumulating more debt. (This was hard to see because all I was focusing on was that it emptied our savings…)
2) While machinery was damaged during the process, no one, not a single person was injured in any way. Praise the Lord, what a blessing.
3) I can now focus all of my attention on finishing the preparations for my Travis Tree’s graduation in two weeks. I love that I get the privilege of honoring my son for his accomplishment.
4) And this list of what I am thankful for would not be complete if I didn’t include this: I am thankful that the Lord’s mercies are new each day. This anchored me yesterday.
My list may not be long today, but I can honestly say, it is from my heart. May God’s blessings and favor shine on you today.
