Today is going to be a bit nuts.
There is way too much to do.
Lists MUST be made for what needs to get completed outdoors before winter sets in.
Gardens must be walked to determine what is left to pick…like pumpkins…and snake gourds (a fun treat), and to see if any broccoli has survived the frost from the other night. Everything else should have already been harvested.
the garden needs to be put to bed for winter, and I have to have a plan for attacking that.
Plus, my kiddos should be doing school work today, but in our house it’s a “holiday”. Okay, I need to clarify that. We call birthdays “holidays” here. My rule has always been if a birthday falls on a school day then we don’t do schoolwork that day. My kiddos think that applies to Mom’s birthday too. I love my boys. Bless them. 🙂
So, I plan to finish dehydrating carrots, maybe go through the potatoes that were harvested and pull out the smaller ones to dehydrate as well. I also must plan a trip to the apple orchard…one of our favorite things to do in fall is make homemade applesauce. Shockingly, I still have some in the freezer from last fall ~ not sure how that happened. Plus, we’ll make apple butter and pie filling…YUM. Okay, I must stop, my head is getting filled with the smells and they’re not even there yet. Oh my!
Oh, and I have to introduce Calpurnia to her new home…and housemates. I’m praying that all goes well. More on that later.
Have a super blessed day!
